"The Weird Girls is an amazing prequel to a new series. This new and upcoming author knows how to deliver suspense, humor, action and... Mark my words, Ms. Robson will make her name known in no time with this great UF series." - Under the Covers Book Blog
Â
Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls--with one tiny exception they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, a little weird...Â
Â
The Wird sisters are different from every race on earth-human and supernatural. When human society is no longer an option for them, they move in among the resident vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region. Could this be the true home they've longed for? Um, not quite. After the sisters accidentally strip a witch of her powers in a bar brawl, they soon realize the mistake will cost them. Because to take on a witch means to take on her coven. And losing the battle isn't an option.

Includes a preview of the first full-length novel in the Weird Girls series, Sealed with a Curse-as well as introductions to the Weird World, and a letter from the author.

"I got this prequel novella to Cecy Robson's Weird Girls series because of the accessible Kindle price (2.99) and because i'd seen it reviewed elsewhere and remembered the reviewer had noted the snarky sense of humor.
I need me some snark right now, and wanted to see if it was worth buying the series.
I would say yes. Despite some easily-edited minor text mistakes, and a bit of believability problem in terms of the supernatural world keeping themselves secret from humans (and blowing up night clubs) as well as a too-bee-yotchy to be true villainess, the snark kept me reading on.
Not just snark, but current media-referenced snark as well as a main character who doesn't take herself too seriously or angst-ily. (which is good, because the Weird Sisters do have things in their past they could angst about, but the pacing, tone, and character development wouldn't support that kind of emotional load).
Celia is the oldest sister in a group of 4 who all have special powers (undefined and a bit too comprehensive for my own taste-- Celia can shift, and sense magic, and teleport, and change into a Tiger--) due to a curse aimed at their now-dead mother. They have just settled in Lake Tahoe finally to make it their home, but the supernatural community already there is going to give them a bit of a challenge.
This novella definitely sets up the series while giving a nicely rounded tale about how far Celia will go to protect her family.
I'll definitely be looking up Sealed with a Curse, the first of the series.
This Book's Snack Rating: Sour Cream and Chives Lay's for the cheesy snark on a still-crunchable-but-not-heavy character development and paranormal plot"

The Weird Girls A Weird Girls Novella Weird Girls Novellas Cecy Robson 9781947330177 Books Reviews
- The Wird sisters are not your ordinary sisters. They are the product of a backfired curse, both human and supernatural. They have never really fit in anywhere and Celia Ward, the older of the sisters, has fit in even less. Always having been picked on and made fun of, they are closer than most sisters ever could be and now they have finally found a place that they feel they belong. After purchasing a house in Lake Tahoe, the four sisters go out to celebrate but after a run in with a witch in the bathroom leads to a brawl that strips the witch of her powers, they find themselves in the scariest and maybe even the most dangerous situation that have ever been in. While each of the girls have their special power, it’s Celia who is the strongest and she goes up against the head witch but is she strong enough to survive the three challenges that the witch is going to throw at her without the help of her sisters?
This was a great book and I’ve got to tell you the last challenge almost left me in tears because my heart was breaking for Celia. This was a novella and the first of the series but it wasn’t the first one that I had read so I knew going in what the girls powers were. Each with the own unique power and personality they complement each other but to me, the most important one is Emme because without her healing abilities, they would more than likely be dead. - One of my GoodReads groups asked members to list their favorite all time paranormal series and at least two people listed The Weird Girls-and you could only pick five. So that got my attention since I hadn’t heard of it. When one of the blogs I follow on Facebook mentioned this series twice in one day, I had to read one. Luckily the prequel, a novella, was out there for me to try.
Celia Wird and her three sisters have moved to Lake Tahoe to finally settle down away from all the people that had bullied them for years, because they were different. And they are all pretty different supernatural beings. A witch’s spell had backfired, leaving all the sisters with very different powers. Celia has an inner tigress that she can let out. But she is not a weretigress. Taren, controls fire and lightening with her hands. Shayna can transform pieces of wood to weapons (among other things)and Emme is telekinetic.
Taren has a temper and gets into it with a witch one night at a nightclub. Celia gets pulled into the fray and when all is said and done, they have made a powerful enemy in the head witch of the coven in Tahoe. A challenge is made and Celia has to fight for her family and their new life in Tahoe. If she loses, they have to give up everything and leave. It’s not long before she realizes that the witch doesn’t fight fair.
My favorite thing about this story was the characters. The author has fully realized each sister and I felt like I knew each of them by the end. The relationship between the sisters, and Celia’s love for her sisters, in particular, was the backbone of the story. The other thing I liked was the humor. Horrific things are happening and then the author deftly manages to lighten the mood. Don’t get me wrong. this is not a comedy. But what it is, is a supernatural story with lots of action and well written characters. It’s also a story of four unusual sisters and their love for each other. Good start to a series and I have already started the next book.(RabidReads,Ca) - I got this prequel novella to Cecy Robson's Weird Girls series because of the accessible price (2.99) and because i'd seen it reviewed elsewhere and remembered the reviewer had noted the snarky sense of humor.
