Zentangle Basics Expanded Workbook Edition A Creative Art Form Where All You Need is Paper Pencil Pen Design Originals 25 Original Tangles BeginnerFriendly Practice Exercises Techniques Suzanne McNeill CZT 8601419711017 Books Reviews
- This is a really good book for beginners. It is very simple and it introduces you to some designs. I watch YouTube videos before I bought this book. I think you will get more out of it if you do the same. The book does not go in depth like many of the videos I have watched. I also will add that this is so much more inexpensive than taking a class from a certified (yes, they certify the instructors). The book is written by a certified instructor so you are learning the technique. It is a philosophy as well so if you want to get more into that, a class will help. But if you just like to relax and draw, this is a good place to start.
- The first 16 pages are examples of all the products you can buy and put zentangles on (see pic) Given this is a beginner book...all of this was totally unnecessary padding.
Page 17 is a full page to announce the workbook part is starting (why tho?)
Finally on page 18 you actually start drawing.
Page 32 has half a page where you can practice strings and 1/2 a page about the authors blog and a shout-out to the zentangles website.
Since you only get 1/2 a workbook a more appropriate price would be 1/2 what it cost. It would have been just as informative to watch a YT video or google examples. - I recently had received a Zentangle get well card from family in Tasmania and was fascinated because it was created by a very young nephew and it was beautiful! This Zentangle thing looked like something I could do with my Granddaughter, so I ordered the book and we were not disappointed. We're still learning and having a great time with it - the book gives step-by-step directions/pictures of several Tangles and we're working on mastering those before moving on to Zentangle Book #2 in the near future!
- This is perfect for someone just starting out with Zentangling. I almost didn't buy it because of some of the reviews I read. I do not know why people who are experienced or semi-experienced tanglers expect this book to be more than basic, since it is called Zentangle Basics. If you are wanting to dip you foot into tangling, this is a great little book to start out with.
- This book is an excellent starting point for rank beginners. It features clear instructions and diagrams that will help you get started immediately. Also included are ideas on how to use Zentangle for educational purposes and for cards. Many patterns are included, along with variations. These inspired me to experiment with my own ideas for patterns so that I'm not simply copying what I'm seeing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn this drawing technique.
- The instructions are clear and easy, broken down into steps. Makes bringing students into my doodling world fun and easy. Some really don't get the point, though. It is a planned procedure as a meditation, warm-up, and creativity starter. Could be expanded to by a knowledgeable teacher to introduce line types, rhythm, and interest. Enjoyable for a short time, though the "patented" designs and method are the height of arrogance and insult. For parents who want to keep their kids who like to draw busy in the summer, this is part of a whole series, and I would recommend.
- Discovering Zentangle has been an extraordinary experience. I love drawing every day now. The book was very clear and friendly, and directs very well.
- I am a beginner at Zentangle and this book was just what I needed. It gave the background of the art form, the tools need, and some basic step to create different tangles. I would recommend this book for anyone beginning The pen and ink Zentangles.
